Gingerbread house

We are getting better at building our gingerbread house. This year it is still standing. Savannah did an excellent job of decorating it.

She even enjoyed some of the green frosting.

Story Time

Savannah loves the book Dragon In A Wagon. Every night she has Daddy read it to her before bed. The other day she decided to read to her babies. Not sure why she choose to do it under the Christmas tree other than she thinks that is a great place to play. She was really reading to them, until I got the camera out of course. I was amazed that she had it memorized almost as much as me.

Melted Snowman Cookies

Every year a friend of mine does a cookie party. Everyone is assigned to bring 6 dozen cookies, and no chocolate chip cookies are aloud. Ever year I have a few weeks to decide what to make and I usually come up with some thing. The idea of making six dozen cookies is a little daunting. This year however I had only three days to figure it out. I just happened to see someone else had come up with melted snowman cookies and they were supper cute. So that is what I decided to make. It took several days to make them all but I have them all done a ready to go. I just hope everybody enjoys them.

They look so yummy I can't wait to try some.

Today

Seriously all this snow is crazy. I feel like we have moved to McCall or something. Luckily the farmer renting the farm came and bladed out driveway yesterday. I had to dig the van out yesterday to go over to the neighbors only to get stuck in their driveway. Then I was sliding all over ours. Today Savannah and I are being lazy and staying home.

Did we move?

Tuesday Savannah and I left the house to go to story time in Payette. When we got in the care it was trying to snow but by the time we got done with story time it was really coming down. It continued to snow hard all day long and all night too. This is what we woke up to Wednesday morning. Tons of snow! This never happens around here. It snowed and rain/snow mix most of the day Wednesday too.

This first video is Savannah playing in the snow on Saturday.

The second one still makes me laugh. Roderick thought he could get his car down the driveway and take it to work. He ended up taking the truck.

Christmas Tree

Tuesday for FHE we decided to put up the christmas tree. Savannah was so cute, she got all excited when she saw the tree. She kept saying "I love Christmas" "oh so beautiful tree" she even remimbered that we put bows and balls on the tree. Of course she wanted to put all the ornaments in the same spot on the tree. Daddy kept taking them and putting them somewhere else.

She loves the tree with it's lights on so much that she fell asleep looking at it.

Saturday Snow Day

Saturday it snowed all day long. Since Roderick's brothers families were visiting for Thanksgiving we headed over to Grandma Austin's to play. The snow was almost perfect for making snow balls so the kids had a huge snowball fight. Savannah didn't last to long outside, she doesn't like to be cold.

Leaves!!

The leaves on all our trees finally fell. We have a lot of maple trees in our back yard and they have lots of leaves so we wait until they all fall before raking them. So Saturday I decided to get them raked up. It took me an hour and a half to rake them into a pile then Savannah decided to come outside to play. And what child can resist playing in piles of leaves.

Tada!! I did it mom!

She got out of breath and told me it was hard to walk in the leaves.

They are so deep she can hardly walk in them.

She is pretty proud of herself. I didn't get the leaves hauled off the lawn on Saturday. So Sunday morning we woke up to snow and it was still snowing. It snowed all day but didn't stay long by Monday morning it was all gone. So on Monday I spend another hour or so getting the wet mushy leaves off the lawn in the wind. Next year Roderick gets to do it.

Crazy Day

The same evening that Savannah had to get staples in her head she also did this. Daddy found her in her room covered in Vaseline!!

This is a wooden train car in the container. Apparently it told her it wanted to be in there.

She cover not only herself in it but also her toys that you see by her feet. Needless to say after I cleaned her up she want straight to bed for the night. It was almost bed time anyways.

Poor Baby!!

This morning Savannah was standing on my bed looking out the window, watching a tractor working the field. When she lost her balance and fell. She hit the back of her head on the metal frame of my bed and split it open. A few weeks ago she hit it on the coffee table and split it open to, so at first I thought she had busted open the old wound. But as I looked closer I saw that it was next to the previous one and a lot bigger so this time we went to the doctor. Last time it was just a small spot that was split open. So we decided it didn't need stitches or anything. This time was different.
The doctor gave me two options to fix it. We could numb it up and stitch it or we could put staples in it and not have to hold her down as long. So I chose staples. They put four staples in her head and she only cried a little bit while they were doing it. Then after they were done she was complaining in her own little language. Poor baby, I was surprised at how well she did. When they were done they even gave her a stuffed bear to take home. She thought that was pretty cool. I guess this is probably just the beginning of her needing stitches or something. After all she is a very busy, dare devil child.

My story

I love reading other peoples bloggs. They are interesting and sometimes give me inspiration. Last week I found a ladies blog through a friend and she was inviting everyone to link to her blog and tell their story about how they became a mother and after reading 23 other stories I decided to tell my friends and, since I make my blog into a book, Savannah my story. Sorry about the spelling.

I never knew what I wanted to do when I grew up I knew I wanted to be a mom but I couldn't come up with something else. I finally decided I wanted to go into computer design, however when Roderick and I got married he asked if I wanted to have kids right away or go to school. I choose kids, little did I know it would take me seven years to have a baby.

After trying for a year to have a baby my regular OBGYN put me on clomed for 6 months and when that didn't work he sent me to a specialist. After several failed attempts at fertility drugs my fertility doctor decided that when I had my appendix taken out (there was internal bleeding and they had to got back in to fix it) it caused scare tissue to form and my uterus couldn't move. However our insurance only covered a laperoscopy if he said he was going into fix endometriosus. So we waited and about a year later our insurance changed. It would now cover exploitative surgery.

I have a laperoscopy in February and they said I had some endometriosus but mostly lesions. All of my internal organs were so compressed together that nothing could move. The doctor said to wait six months and see if it didn't work my only choice would be invetro. About eight months later I found out I was pregnant with my sweet little Savannah. That doctor didn't deliver babies anymore so he transferred me to another doctor. I knew right away she was a girl and we had her name picked out a long time ago. Mainly because it was one of the only names we could agree on. My pregnancy was normal or so I thought. Looking back now I don't think she moved around as much as she should have.

I was induced two days before my due date. Her heart was doing what they called a mombo beat it wasn't as active as they wanted it to be so they had the nicu on stand by so they could check her out as soon as she was born. At 4 am they came into my room to check on the baby and lost the monitor for her heartbeat. The nurses were calm at first but then when they found her heat beat again it was way to low, the head nurse started shouting orders and saying we were going to the OR. This is when Roderick woke up. There were at least five nurses in my room all doing something. Then the doctor go there and saw her heart beat was going back up so they decided to just wait and let her recover. They then realized that the reason her heart rate drop so dramatically was because I went from a 6 to a ten in 15minutes. Glad I had that epidural and didn't feel a thing. After three pushes she was out. All 6lbs and 20 inches of her.

Now it has been two and a half years and still no baby. So I changed doctors again, yes I am one doctor number four, and had another surgery and now we wait to see what will happen. This doctor told me to try for four months and then come back in and we will look into other things. Because this time I am thirty starting this process and getting old. Wow I never thought of myself as old until then.

So that is my story what is yours?

Pumpkins

The day after we got our pumpkins we had to decorate them. I decided that I didn't want to clean up the mess of carving a pumpkin and that Savannah really wouldn't care so I let her paint them. She loves to paint. The funny/sad thing is she used washable finger paints and her pumpkins are sitting outside in the rain right now. All the paint washed off. I guess it is a craft that she can do over and over.
Pumpkin #1

And #2
I don't think she gets the Halloween colors yet. She used up two containers of paint. They were old anyways and needed used up.
After I got her all cleaned up I wrapped her in a towel and sat her on the couch while I got her some clean clothes and cleaned out the tub. When I got back I found her curled up in a ball sleeping. I guess it is hard work being an artist.

Here is a video of her painting.
