Random Happenings

In the beginning of October we went over to Autumn's house to have a break from canning. We had a relaxing week. We went out to lunch and went shopping one day, but mostly just hung out. Sunday the Banks family was getting ready for round up the next week so we went with them to take the horses and other stuff over to cow camp. Savannah really wanted to ride one of the horses. (riding with Chris's cousins)

Kitty Black disappeared for two months.
We were sure he wasn't coming home but he finally did.

Savannah was on a drawing in the dark kick for awhile this summer. Of coarse the outside light was on.

Bell pepper or apple? Crazy kid loves the garden.

Just before we left to go to Autumns house Savannah got stung by a wasp on her finger. Her poor hand got so swollen.

Not sure why she was outside in her underwear but I thought it was funny..

Jump Creek

One Saturday morning Grandma Tschida called to see if Savannah and I wanted to go for a road trip and a hike. Her and Debbie had never been to jump creek and wanted to go check it out. So we went with them. We saw some wild life along the way, one dragon fly and several little bitty lizards.

Savannah showing me how big the cave is.

This waterfall is tucked away in a small canyon surrounded by dry desert.

Canning

This summer I thought I wasn't going to do as much canning, but somehow I ended up doing just as much. I canned peaches, pears, V8 juice, pear sauce, nectarines, pickles and a bunch of jams. Savannah was my big helper tasting the pear sauce for me. I think she likes it.

Brendon liked the nectarines.

Savannah started preschool in September. We are doing a teaching co-op. We take turns teaching, so far Savannah loves it even though there are only three kids.

Family Pictures

In august my brother and sister in law had a baby blessing, baptism and a mission farewell all in one weekend. So we took advantage of all the family being in town and took some Austin family pictures.
All of the Austin grand kids minus one still in the oven.

Two of the silliest girls I know!

Honey Time

September brought honey harvesting time. This year Roderick took the bees up to Weiser and the bees really packed away the honey. We got about 100lbs of honey this year and have already given most of it away. Roderick getting ready to take the honey supers off.

Seven Devils

For ten years now Roderick has been making a trip up to the Seven Devils on a pack trip. I used to go with him but then Savannah came alone and I haven't been able to go since. This year him and his brother decided to go on the back side of the devils along the Rapid River trail and find some old mining towns. Here are a few pictures from their trip. More to come later.

Black Lake. There is a mine at the top of that hill and they ran a cable down to the other side of the lake in order to get whatever it was they were mining.

Top-random things found laying around,
Bottom is Roderick holding a piece of the cable.

More random stuff

It amazes me the large heavy stuff that they hauled way back into the mines. Black Lake had a road of sorts into it but many of the others just had trails and were way in from civilization.

Scout Camp

Roderick went with the scouts to the Seven Devils this summer, it actually ended up being more of a family camping trip. There were only two boys and on leader that weren't related to us. I have more pictures but the computer is not working so well right now so they will have to wait. The first day they all climbed up to the top of "He Devil". This was the second day when they went on another long hike up to "Dry Diggins Lookout."
