Canning

This summer I thought I wasn't going to do as much canning, but somehow I ended up doing just as much. I canned peaches, pears, V8 juice, pear sauce, nectarines, pickles and a bunch of jams. Savannah was my big helper tasting the pear sauce for me. I think she likes it.

Brendon liked the nectarines.

Savannah started preschool in September. We are doing a teaching co-op. We take turns teaching, so far Savannah loves it even though there are only three kids.

Grape Juice!!

This week yet again I was canning. I canned grape juice for two days. I ended up getting 80 quarts of juice. This is a picture of what Savannah worked on this week. This too. She was a very busy girl. To be fair she did have some help. Her cousin Mattie came to play one day and the next day Ashlyn and Clayton came to play. They all had a blast destroying the house. Oh well they were out of my way.
Thanks to my awsome sister-in-laws for all their help this week. This is my finished product. I also canned 36 pints of pickled beets on Friday, but I forgot to take a picture. I am done canning for the year. All out of jars!!!

Are We Done Yet?

This fall has been busy. Between canning Peaches and Pears. This week we juiced grapes, we got 45 quarts of juice and I made 13 little jars of grape jelly. If that wasn't enough Saturday Savannah and I went to grandma's for the traditional apple pie making. We made 110 apple pies. My weekend started out by getting 812 pounds of apples. Grandma only wanted 120 pounds but other people wanted more. I forgot to take my camera to take pictures, but it was a big party. Next on the list is canning carrots for Savannah. Then making apple sauce and maybe apple butter (if I can figure out how). Last on my list is making Berry jam and pie filling. But the berries can wait because they are frozen.
